The History of Apex
Entertainment

INTRODUCTION
Apex
Theatres is locally owned by a group of investors who formed Apex
Entertainment, LLC. The company currently operates 16 screens in
Kentucky which include Baxter Avenue Theatres and Village 8
Theatres. Both facilities were open under the Apex name at about the
same time and are well known to Louisville residents due to their
distinct but separate niche in the Louisville marketplace.
BAXTER AVENUE
FILMWORKS
In September of 1996, the Baxter Avenue Theatres had it's eagerly
anticipated opening. Located in the heart of the Highland
neighborhood in Louisville, KY., Baxter is far from a typical
multiplex. The Theatre offers first-run, foreign, and independent
fare. Baxter Avenue Theatres offers you a choice of eight wall to
wall screen auditoriums with seating capacities from 147 to 237.
Features include state-of-the-art projection equipment and Dolby
Digital surround sound. Baxter's most show-stopping assets, though,
are its aesthetic allure, including a multimedia video wall above
the concession stand, lighted moving sculptures, and vintage posters
throughout. Hand-painted murals by local artists adorn walls in the
concourse and in each theater. Each mural celebrates a director that
has made a valuable contribution to film.
VILLAGE
8 THEATERS
Village 8 Theatres was purchased in August of 1996. A landmark
in St. Matthews in Dupont Village, Village 8 was renovated and
updated with new floors, seats, carpet, tile and screens which aided
in its transformation to a clean, family friendly environment that
shows quality films at an affordable price. The Village 8 continues
to be Louisville's only 'discount house' operating at full schedule
seven days a week, three-hundred sixty-five days a year. The
theaters range in seating capacity from 77 to 189 to accommodate
special events and shows. Village 8 is also the home of
Apex Entertainment's newest project called "Louisville Exclusive
Films". This project brings first-run independent, foreign,
and art-house films to Louisville with a new film opening up each
Friday,
Apex has received several honors and awards for its dedication in
exhibition. Such recognition includes the LEO Choice Awards for
Several Consecutive Years, Best of Louisville Award, Only Four Star
Theatre in Louisville Award as well as personal recognition from the
Mayor of Louisville, and both the Governor of Kentucky, and The
Senator of Kentucky. On a National Level, Apex is a member of
Mid-States for Kentucky/West Virginia and Ohio, and a member of the
National Association of Theatres Owners (NATO).
Apex thrives to be a signature theatre company by offering both
quality and value through the theatres atmosphere as well as its
exhibition of films. Thank you for your continued interest and
patronage of Apex Entertainment theaters, as we strive to bring
excellence in the movie theater experience.
